I went from rh thread to lh thread due to the rh thread always coming loose and the lh thread never coming loose. Sample size of 3 hk's, a g19 and a mp9. G19 and mp9 were converted from aftermarket rh barrels to factory lh barrels. Hk's all factory barrels(p30, usp, 45c).

    Interesting, thanks for the feedback.

I have an HKUSP with factory installed barrel and a Glock21 with an OEM Glock barrel bought from Palmetto State Arms.

Both are left hand metric. Seems to work great as the cans don't loosen off.

My TiRant indexed same on both weapons.

I was shocked at how well the G21 shot. It held its own against the HK for 1/2 the cost.

My G21 was purchased right after they first came out in early 1990s while on active duty with the intent to have it if deployed. That was back when we still could do what ever we wanted with our own gear without too much grief. I saw no reason to upgrade a weapon that shot so well by purchasing a newer model. It shoots very tight groups and doesn't jam. I have not sent it in for the factory mods to open up the ejection port, etc.

Wow, I spent most of the early 90's deployed with the 10th Mtn Div and never fathomed being able to take personal weapons into my barracks - let alone into theater. If anything, things loosen up a bit for me after 9/11 with certain personal purchase optics, mags, etc. being allowed.

I was an officer. And, an undisciplined one at that. ;-)

Served in Korea as my first tour with no adult supervision. The platoon leaders ran everything in the 503 (scheduling, training, ranges, live fire ranges, the AHA, etc.) and rightfully so.

I was in just as the era of strippers in the O' club was ending.

Does anyone have a source of OEM Glock threaded barrels now that Gemtech stopped stocking them? PSA had them for a while but they are currently dry. I'm looking for a factory G19 threaded barrel.

    My sentiments exactly.
Also, like Sensei said, **** opposite-handed threading.

I asked the same question a while back, here:

    https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread...-Get-It-Thread

I got a reply that netted me new G17 and G19 OEM threaded barrels and o-ring thread protector (another great reason to use OEM barrels, the TPs don't come off), but since it directed me to the EE of TOS, both posts were quickly deleted by mod.

Short version: Try EEs on forums. I still haven't found a company that stocks them.

You have no clue what you are talking about.

Metric threads are superior for a variety of reasons.

They are less prone to shoot lose and have o-ring support. They also index off the end of the barrel and have a secondary interface the slips over the barrel behind the threads to center the can.

I'm not a big fan of connecting devices in series that alternate twists because tightening one loosens the other. For example, after long strings of fire I must tighten the suppressor on my KKM threaded barrel. Since its right handed twist, I'm also tightening down the booster/Nielson device that is also right handed. If I used a OEM barrel that is left handed twist, I'd be unscrewing the booster; not a fun 2-handed proposition when dealing with hot components. For those of you using OEM Glock (or Sig or HK) barrels, do you find it hard to tighten the suppressor on the threads without unscrewing the booster/Nielson device? Is this an issue for you?

This problem is impossible if your silencer uses a sprocket style piston.
