In no way do I make any money from anyone related to the firearms industry.

Sounds like either what Moose mentioned in Post #60:
OR a guy who posted under "FerFAL" (can't remember which forum/blog) talking about his experience in Argentina's 2001 collapse. Seems he's made it into a book now: http://www.amazon.com/The-Modern-Sur.../dp/9870563457
I remember the FerFAL stuff beig pretty good.

Here it is ( I think ).

Yes, "Selco" survived with his family in Bosnia during the war, greatest death tolls in Europe since WWII. He speaks from his first hand accounts of urban survival as the city was under siege and surrounded for the duration of the War, Bosnia that was a nasty bit of business for sure.
"FerFal" survived with his family in Argentina after their financial collapse in the eary '00s.
Both have blogs and are invaluable resources IMHO.

"We have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them." — CNN's Don Lemon 10/30/18
The locals working with KBR had a lot of interesting stories to tell, when I was in Bosnia it seemed like there was a generational gap of men missing. Our cook that we took to Glamoc for gunnery had been executed and left for dead; he had been shot 6 times in the chest with an AK and lived to chain smoke in the chow tent and say **** between every other english word.
I find the first point most pertinent - you cannot survive against organized opposition when SHTF. There will be militia/raider/bandit groups forming if rule of law goes away, and unless you join one you will likely be somebody's lunch.
I believe this is what I read.
ETA: If I remember correctly, one of the biggest things that was always a hot commodity was lighters, the kind you get in 96 packs from Costco. It means so little to us now, but when the SHTF, those $.20 lighters are the difference between eating a warm meal and chewing on raw whateveryoufind. Which reminds me, I need to go to Costco...

I've read some of Ferfal's stuff, and it's very compelling. He has a lot of common-sense solutions that can be implemented even on a very modest budget.
