    LSHD,

    Beware, 1911's tend to multiply........

For duty, I switch between a SA TRP OP and Glock 34. I love the utility that Safariland gives with this system. You can swap holsers without changing anything except for the mag pouch on the belt. The female end stays on the belt loop and the male end attaches to your holster. Buy two males and a female and your gtg. The QLS system is rated to 300 lbs in the event that someone tries to rip it off you.

This rail gun left side safety is tearing my thumb up so bad that I bleed all over the gun now. Am I seriously gonna need to buy a new safety for a $1150 gun?!

Also, I had the weirdest FTF's today. On the last round of two CMC and two Colt mags, all new, the slide would just lock back and a loose round would be sitting in the breach (?), not chambered at all. All mags new, and the ammo doing it was Federal 220grn +P JHP. WTF?!?

Are you riding the safety or positioning your thumb underneath?

Riding the safety. Thumb underneath feels very alien to me….

Try XP mag springs. Any of my mags loaded with +P ammo get a Wolff XP mag spring. The XP springs ensure rounds are properly seated at the top of the magazine when the slide, which accelerates with +P ammo, strips the round and returns to battery.

I don't see why a 1911 cannot be carried as a duty weapon. Having more rounds is not worth spit unless you hit your target. All you have to do is watch the crud going on in Iraq to know these idiots are throwing rounds without a clue as to what they are shooting at. I carry a Wilson Stealth .38 Super. With the round in the pipe and two back up mags I have 28 rounds to get out of trouble. With a .45 that is reduced to 25. We all know the statistics prove a gunfight rarely lasts past 8 rounds. If you get into an encounter like the California bank robbery, you should have a rifle in hand.

Well, I ground down the rear edge on the safety till it was flush with the receiver. It feels lightyears better. I think if I could find a safety where the shelf sat just a little lower (not as low as the Gunsite Safety) and the edges were blended, I would be in 1911 heaven. Why does it not come like this from the factory?!

    Mr. HighDrag,
I'm not going to try to diagnose your gun issue, as I am far from an expert. But there are videos on you tube that show the effects of different spring rates on the function of a 1911. Very interesting stuff.
