That is exactly what anti-seize is formulated to prevent - rusting or galling between similar or dissimilar metals.

For most of us I don't think it matters if we use lithium grease or anti-seize compound. In extreme environments, it probably does matter. (Saltwater immersion, high humidity, etc.) I use AeroShell 33MS but if I didn't have a lifetime supply, I wouldn't feel bad about using Loctite C5-A, CV Joint grease or any other high temp rated lithium grease.

Something I find to be rather disappointing!

What... That they haven't exploded yet??

You're an aviation guy. You guys have a different mindset. Even if there's possibly maybe a 1/10 of a percent chance that something bad can happen, it's not allowed. Understandable.

(Although it's time to get over not using cell phones during flights.)

Yes! I'm very disappointed that none of IG's copper slathered uppers haven't exploded or turned to dust or been reduced to an electrolytic paste. He is defying the very laws of nature. Don't you see what this could lead to? Next thing you know, MarkM will be buying an LWRC! It's. In The. Manual. I WANT VINDICATION, DAMMIT!

Anybody use this anti-seize junk (of any kind) on the rifle extension nut? That's steel being screwed onto an aluminum tube but I rarely ever hear anyone mention using it for that. What's your thoughts?

Never-Seez contains aluminum and not copper (unless there's a Never-Seez product I have not seen but I've only seen the one kind going back to first using it in about 1974 in an industrial application).

Another thing the metal-bearing anti-seize compounds will help with is heat conduction. This probably strays into the realm of theoretical silliness but it would tend to aid in the transfer of heat from the barrel and barrel extension, especially if it was also slathered onto the barrel extension prior to installation. But yeah, that's gonna be a pretty meaningless advantage. OK, just pretend I didn't mention it.....

Based on an older M4C thread I used Valvoline VV632, bought at the local Vatozone for $5. Not 33MS but easily available in your town right meow.
