What's the hype about warsport lvoa/ salient rifles?

It seems like the Warsport Lvoa/Salient rifles get a lot of luv on the inter webs and I'm confused on why. I had a chance to shoot a Salient a few weeks ago and I can't say I was impressed. In fact a few things turned me off about it besides the price. In 60 rounds the hand guard reached 170 degrees according to the ir temp gun we had, you're stuck with a pinned 14.5" device, and you can't mount a suppressor. Also it wasn't that smooth, my 16" bcm middy with an A5 was just as smooth, and my SR15 with A5 was even smoother. So why?

What's the hype about warsport lvoa/ salient rifles?

They're fancy and expensive, so they must be the best.

Obviously a Salient $2500 glock shoots better than a standard one. I suspect the same it true for ARs...

As work the Warsport, it's a fancy rail, and a "top hat" muzzle device.

Really though I'm interest as well (about the Warsport, not the salient). I've heard that the Warsport its a damn smooth rifle, but have no experience with it.

War Sport and Salient Arms are two different businesses. Scientific product development, machines, raw materiel, and talent are all contributing factors to the price of the LVOA. The LVOA is incredibly soft and flat shooting. The first time I shot one I was in a full arm cast and was able to stay on target. War Sport also has the GPR and GPR-E for those that want a more traditional AR.

Certainly nice shooting rifles as I've had some trigger time on some borrowed ones. I personally would not see a need over my Colt, Noveske, or BCM. That may differ for others.

I've been asking the same question. I have yet to meet anyone who has either. if I am not mistaken the the LVOA carbines use some proprietary components as well.

I don't care for pin and welds and all of my AR's are smooth shooting and functional for a lot less money.

I don't know much about the rifle(s) in question but if they are anything like the severely overpriced Salient or Zev Glocks then I would never, ever buy one.

Just because something is expensive does not mean it actually does anything better or was even well engineered/well designed. Take for example the majority of muzzle brakes/compensators on the market. Almost all of them cost at least 2-3X as much as the DPMS Jerry Miculek compensator and are not as good at what they do.

Story is the lvoa is that blast and flash get directed away. Claim is that when using nods the flash won't come into sight picture.

Never have used lvoa or salient. At the price, I won't either.

Colion Noir has a review up on the Salient.

Not that he has ever reviewed a gun that he doesn't really like - but he's never reviewed anything that's a genuine POS, either, to the best of my knowledge.

Other than Colion's pornographic review of the Salient, I've only seen one review of the LVOA - and it was more useless than Colion's. (At least in Colion's he says that it has been reliable for the "thousands" of rounds he has run through it.)

I feel that the LVOA and/or Salient guns will get lots of Hollywood exposure because they look cool. But as others have noted, I don't get it. And not for lack of wanting to - there's just a dearth of information about both of them.

As for Salient's polymer wonder guns? I can't help but feel that there's a reason or reasons why Jason Falla, Kyle Lamb, and Chris Costa all run them. Maybe because they can. Maybe because at their skill level, the minute gains over the stock pistols are worth the price for them. I look at it this way: You can spend $3000 on a 1911 that runs well, but will be heavy, low-capacity, and will still need parts fitted to it. Or you can buy a $3000 Salient and keep a $500-600 Glock/M&P as a back-up in case the Salient breaks that uses all the same mags and holsters and support equipment, and if you really have to, you can pull the magic pixie dust parts out and swap them with standard Glock/M&P parts... which are all drop-in. But I digress.

I get it, they are out to make money and to capitalize on the AR craze, and the sad thing is that people will buy this crap just like BRO affliction gear. The further away we get from good old Colt, BCM, KAC, DD the more I realize and appreciate good old Colt, BCM, KAC, DD.....
