I had an issue with seating the device completely forward in the keyhole slot....in conclusion I had to admit to a major manufacturer I was an idiot...

Yeah... some items are a little puzzling. But stuff keeps getting better.

Recently purchased a Larue Tactical 10" rail, but had a choice of DD's RIS, Lite, or the Larue (recent BCM promo bought from a local dealer so limited choices in the barrel length I was buying). The RIS was wider, so it came down to the DD lite and the LT. It was an original Lite, not the Lite II/III, so I guess it had been in the shop for a while. Anyway, both (all three actually) were very nice, I chose the Larue though. It was slightly heavier than the DD Lite, but did have QD sockets which the Lite did not. Also the DD Lite rails were pretty sharp it seemed, while the LT rails were "tamer", for lack of a better word. Plus I'm a fan of Larue and have several products from them already.

Anyway, I'm pleased with the purchase. There are "newer" systems out there, of which I have a few, including KMR and Troy Battlerail, but hard to go wrong with a standard picatanny setup still.

I think you did good. DD rails are very sharp. My last RIS II was so sharp I took a file and dehorned every corner and edge on it. It looks a hundred years old, but won't cut skin anymore. It's on my brother's rifle.

I still don't see any merit to KM. Inwent on a night hunt Saturday. One guy showed up with almost dead Scout light, nobody had batteries. I had a spare X300U on my cousin's carbine (he carried a suppressed 308) so I popped it off and swapped him lights for the night.

I have one KMR, due to the recent BCM promos - 14.5" with Surefire 556. It's my "fun gun" for lack of a better word - although maybe it's not PC to use that term. It's a lightweight build, no attachments other than a T2 and Magpul Pro BUIS's and BCM Shorty VG. I put a SD3G trigger in it and it's basically my bang bang gun for the range - no SD/HD, no bench, no hunting, etc. Works great in the role I chose and very light too. My other builds are all standard QR or mod QR configs, however.

That's exactly what slick handguards were designed to be. Slick. For the guys who wanted a set of flip up irons and an X300 at 12:00.

They're GREAT for that. Used to be Troy was the about the only ones who made a tube with a rail on top. I never bought one because I shied away from the 'clamp to the nut' mounting. My guns ride on 4-wheelers, tractors, trucks, and airplanes, quite frequently. I like solid.

I just bought all the parts for another house carbine and I ended up going with a 9" Larue.

I hovered on the 'checkout button' with a Geissele MK8 in the cart, but I went Larue for two reasons.

    1) All my stuff is Picatinny, it works well, I like interchangeability.
    2) Cost. A FSB barrel was about $20 cheaper than a pinned lpgb, I would have had to buy an MLOK mount for a light, and a buis.

I really like the MK8, it's my favorite Geissele rail yet, but I just don't see the need for a Picatinny rail all the way down the top and something else along the sides and bottom.
