I can understand and even support an entities ability to control what gets transmitted through their "privately" owned equipment. Although, I pretty sure the local hospital got a huge chunk of tax $$ as incentive to build. If you're on their WIFI you go by their rules.

I find it difficult to believe that a private entity can filter what your phone picks out of the airwaves. If you're using your providers data plan (LTE, 4G...) they have no right to block access. Not sure if it's even legal for them to tamper with the data that comes to your phone without some form of legal justification. It's the same as if they were to snoop on the calls you make on your cell phone.

Random public wifi networks are a HUGE security risk.
