Board policy mandates I state that I shoot for BCM. I have also done work for 200 or so manufacturers within the firearm community. I am prior service, a full time LEO, firearm instructor, armorer, TL, martial arts instructor, and all around good guy.
I also shoot and write for various publications. Let me know if you know cool secrets or have toys worthy of an article...

While I'm not fanboy of Palmetto, I do not believe FN has a special 'crap spec' barrel they sell only to Palmetto... I've bought quite a few, and not had any problems, nor do I recall ever hearing of anyone who has. I do see quite a few threads from people who bought other things, most currently their 308 rifle, having problems with parts.
I just buy the premium/FN made stuff, and make sure I'm not in a hurry to get it.
I can find no quantifiable difference between my BCM and PSA upper receivers, other than that the surface of the BCM one likes to rust all the time... They both shoot well and have been reliable. To contend that FN makes lower quality barrels for PSA and allows them to advertise then as FN barrels is rather silly. Why would FN risk sullying their reputation for PSA?
All I can say that hasn't been said before to the OP:
I pretty much guarantee that if you go with the PSA, regardless of quality, you will be kicking yourself and regret it.
You are looking for validation of PSA, but it's pretty obvious you really want the BCM.
Wait for it, have no doubts and be happy.
Yeah if you're buying a gun so you can compare it to other guns online. If you're buying a gun to shoot bullets, it can stand on it's own merits regardless of brand.
What is BCM going to give him the PSA won't?
Yep. See post # 16 yesterday.
This thread just validated what I already thought/felt before. I had a poor experience them before with not one but two poorly staked BCGs about a year and a half ago. Their CS was ok at best (Ok in that my problem was resolved but I had to put up w/ unnecessary long wait times on the phone, multiple calls, that whole deal). The first BCG was hardly staked, They sent me a label, I sent it back and requested a replacement. The second one looked exactly the same. At that point I just requested another return label and full refund.
Despite this, I was willing to give them another shot. I'm sure some of their stuff really is just as good as BCM but I'm not in the gambling mood so I am gonna hang tight.
Ok, you like PSA, we get it. No need for the childish assumptions though. I've yet to base any purchase on a) online bragging rights [comical that I even have to say that] b) how many atta boys I'll receive as a result of aforementioned bragging.
If the specs and/or assembly are questionable it will not "shoot bullets" as well or for as long as the "brand name".
I own both a bcm and psa (chf) carbines....
Fwiw I found the fit finish to be better on the bcm bcg and buffer tube. It's not to say the psa hasn't functioned 100%, it really isn't as smooth cycling as my bcm.
How I would make my decision:
The rifle length gas system has a standardized gas port. Ask psa what their gas port size is. If it's standardized, than I'd just assume the rest of that FN made chf barrel is on point.
(i don't know off the top of my head what the GP size is supposed to be.)
