Finally got a chance to take the AR to the range

It's been 39 years since I turned in my last M16 at the armory at MCAS Beaufort.

Then two years ago I bought a Colt LE6920 and finally this past Monday a son in law and I went to the range.

I ran 100 rounds through it and it performed flawlessly. I've got to do a bit of work to refine some forgotten skills but dang, it was nice to feel and hear one cycle again.

Thanks for the loads of useful info on this site. It was helpful in the purchase selection and now I'm thinking the weapon may just be the starter kit for a series of personalization expenditures. Surely it cannot end up costing as much as did a Jeep...

It can come very close to costing as much as a jeep, but I'm glad to see another person using there rifle as it was intended, Semper Fi
I perfer black coffee in the morning, bourbon in evenings and spending money on sh*t I probably don't need.

Congrats. I am sure it is nice to get back in the saddle again. My first experience with the M16A1 was 38 years ago at Parris Island MCRD. The last time I shot a M16 (A2) was in 2002. I have since owned my very own. Over the past several years, I have owned nearly 4 dozen of them and have built over 3 dozen. I currently have 33 AR15s and one .308 version. Thanks to the Marine Corps, I fell in love with the M16/AR15 platform. I get out and shoot about every couple of weeks. It is a good feeling to keep my skills honed. I hope you have many enjoyable days at the range and keep those skills sharp. SEMPER FI.

I could only wish for the money and a wife that would let me build that many
