The G2X tactical has a *little* more spill than an M300B or M600U. Not much, though. Certainly less than a Fury or Elzetta. I've had one in use as a weapon light for over a year, and it works fine. Back when they were ~$50 it was a really good deal, in my opinion.

You can buy a G2X tactical from Amazon for $56.

Well, there you go. Less than $50. The only other downside to the G2X tactical is the tail cap. Not exactly great compared to a Scout with a Z68.

I will probably order one also to replace a heavier Streamlight TL-2x.
The current rail piece needs to be changed, the 2 screws are wallowed out.
Need to drill them out, then replace with a Magpul cantilever rail.
This is what I have now on the Spike's Middy.

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

G2X is what I am currently using and it works great in that role.

What do you think of that Vltor mount / G2x combination? Does the AD lever tighten both the mount / rail connection AND the mount / light connection? I'd love something that holds the light securely, but would allow me to remove the handheld to use as a hand held (for things like finding brass in the dark).

Correct, when you lock down the ADM QD lever, it clamps on to the rail and tightens down on the light.

Unlock the lever and you can remove the mount and slide out the light easily enough. Lock it and it's rock solid.

As you said, it's nice being able to use the light as a handheld or shed some weight during daytime shoots.

    G2X Tactical on AR?

Just got the light and mount and put it on my rifle. I have to say I am very impressed with both the mount and the light.

Received my order from IWC and installed.

I am impressed with the light and mount. Spoke to Earl on the phone,
then followed up with an email confirming our conversation about product quality
and the employee who shipped the package.
Great people to do business with.
