My issue M4 ( and almost all of the M4s in our armory) has a rail made by P&S Products.

It's identical to the KAC ones with the exception to the barrel but clamp screw on the top rail. These have a flat head vs. allen head on the KAC.

The nice part is that although it's well documented that the Army bought a run of the P&S manufactured rails... No one seems to realize they're not Chinese airsoft clones.

I picked one up NIB for $40 on fleabay for my last clone build. Last KAC RAS I picked up was like $120 used.
Will no doubt shop around for these parts as this will not be a 'presentation piece'.

I played with one of the Colt M4 A1's yesterday, and the temptation was to just pay $1,300 and walk out with the finished product, but it's not like I don't have a suitable payed for AR already in the safe not getting used.

The rail has slotted screws, and is marked Modular Rail Forend M4 Carbine, and L/N NH-40030. I assume this is the P&S forend. Was VERY well made.

Early KAC RAS clamp screws used an allen head screw, but newer rails all use the flat head screws. This revision was done to facilitate re-tightening of the screw in the field without the need for an allen wrench.

That makes good sense, then perhaps the civilian Colt M4A1 is using an actual Knights?

Some civilian Colt LE6920 SOCOMs use Troy drop-in rails.

He'll have either an FN or Colt M4 on Sand Hill with a KAC rail, the closest thing he'll touch to a weapon is a 2x4 in Jump School, and he'll shoot a shitload of blanks from either an M4/249/240 in Ranger School.

Best of luck to him. If he's an 11B and winds up with orders to the 82nd, shoot me a PM.
