DC Police investigating Republican Congressmen for possessing AR15 on Capitol Hill!

Congressman claims he received permission from US Capitol Police to hang the AR-15 in his office, and the BCG allegedly is in a different state, claiming it's only a paperweight...

I'm sure the ATF will stop by next.

ETA: No sight or RDS. Fail.

Police in Washington, D.C., have been referred materials for a possible investigation into two Republican congressmen who posed for a picture with an assault rifle in a House office building.

Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) last week tweeted a picture of himself and Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), the leader of the House's Benghazi investigation, holding an AR-15.

Having the AR-15 in the District could be a violation of the city’s strict gun laws, and the city attorney general’s office has referred the matter to police, a spokesman told The Hill.

That fact that it is illegal to exercise a fundamental human right in our nation's capital should piss off every American citizen and have them screaming that this transgression against liberty be rectified immediately.

Sadly it will be us few that care about our fundamental inalienable rights to pay attention bitching to each other on the internet.

If you listen carefully you can hear the sheep bleating, content with their cable tv, cold beer and hot pizza.

    Baa...baa...baa...baa.
If you can't win a gun fight against a lightly-trained individual during broad daylight with 88 rounds of 30-06, I'm not sure you'd be able to do it with... any other firearm.

It's beyond f'n disgraceful that in our nation's Capital, on Capitol Hill itself, a U.S. Representative's symbol of our god-given Right to Keep and Bear Arms, for which so many Americans have sacrificed immensely, is a a non-functional rifle (no BCG) -- WITH a trigger lock -- AND the U.S. Representative may very well be prosecuted for possessing said firearm. 1776 can't come any sooner.

    Capitol Police say it's legal:

A Republican lawmaker is allowed to have an AR-15 in his office as long as it isn't loaded, the U.S. Capitol Police said Tuesday after a photo of the rifle caught the attention of law enforcement officials in Washington, D.C.

Interesting issue given that (1) DC exists under the control of Congress, and (2) Article 1, Section 6 of the US Constitution provides that members of Congress "shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place." I realize that DC may try to classify possession of an AR15 as a felony, but that would not be consistent with historical use of that term, which would control the meaning of this fundamental provision in the actual US Constitution.

Other than that - is David Gregory still in prison for his violation? He did get convicted in an open and shut case when he had contraband on television, right? ;-(

Ken Buck was our DA for quite some time. I never knew him to be so pro-2A.

IIRC Ted Kennedy had an M14 hanging on his Senate office wall. It was presented to him by either Springfield Armory (the real one) or H&R, I don't remember which one.
