Not as easy for you to access quickly but also not on an electronic record by a big bank as to exactly what you have, either.

With what we saw happen in Greece and Cyprus with runs on the bank...having your money in a safe deposit box also has other more obvious advantages.

Besides...it is not as if your cash is earning a damn thing in interest in a bank savings acct or even a money market account these days. The security of the cash outweighs what little interest you might be earning.

    ...any thought on doing this?
Any run on the banks is likely to be coupled with massive inflation. In addition, most people's liquid savings is a very small fraction of their total wealth (if they are playing their cards right). The real accounts that matter are IRAs, 401k, mutual funds, property, etc.

This. It's why diversity is great. Invest in guns, precious metals(different types), ammo, 401k, stocks, land, and have some savings. No matter what happens, you'll have something of value.

If things go sideways, you may not be able to access deposit boxes.

In those times, if you don't have something in your possession, you don't have it.

Besides, piles of paper Fiat aren't useful unless you can actually use them to buy useful items.

But everyone keeps telling me all the guns, ammo, long term food/water, gold and silver I've bought over the years is stupid and I'm crazy for it...

It's pretty obvious that there are people out there that want and are actively seeking total control of everything in our lives.

If you haven't noticed and you're not doing something to stop it and insulate/protect yourself; you need to get your head out of the sand and into the game.
We interrupt this programme to bring you an important news bulletin: the suspect in the Happy Times All-Girl Glee Club slaying has fled the scene and has managed to elude the police. He is armed and dangerous, and has been spotted in the West Side area, armed with a meat cleaver in one hand and his genitals in the other...

The End-Game is Gold, for sure.

But at the current Gold/Silver ratio, silver is getting my money right now.

I agree that gold / silver may be the best bet. What if an executive order like Roosevelt's in 1933, EO 6102? What would stop them from doing that again?
