Real experience with the Troy PDW stock.

Anyone running one of the Troy PDW stocks on their AR? They're quite a bit of money for a stock, but I'm really considering one for an 11 inch SBR. My main concern is reliability issues with the shortened buffer tube and modified bolt. Any problems?

zero reliability issues. took a 3 day, 1200 class using my 10.5in with Troy PDW. I'd say its good to go. But I'm selling the upper and the stock, it just wasn't what I was wanting after all.

There is a company that makes a PDW type stock that does not require a modified BCG.

I imagine it'd have to be quite a bit longer.

I have the nea css stock, functionally identical to the Troy on a 300blk sbr I use for pig hunting. It's been perfectly reliable with no signs of wear in the 500+ rounds I've used it with.

That being said, ergonomically it's not that great. A few rounds here and there are tolerable, but the cheek weld sucks and I've now experienced "shoulder bite".

So, functionally great, but practically so-so. Unless you are getting in and out of cars a lot or are buying it for the cool factor, I would think again...

It uses a buffer insert for a full bcg.
