It's a guard to keep the mag or bolt release from getting disengaged if it's laying or is dropped on the left side of the receiver.

Too bad it was Brett there, would have been a great advantage to have someone that could actually shoot it with some accuracy!!

    FN SCAR

Very nice, how was the recoil of the SCAR-L vs M4? Any info of a release date for LEO and the rest of us?

Brett isn't involved in the LE or civvie side of things at FNH, but tentatively late '08 or early '09 was the general consensus.

As far as recoil goes, I found it to have less perceived recoil than a similar DI gun with the same barrel length with similar accessories.

Ref SCAR - H we are hoping that Brett will bring it to the subgun/SBR class on Aug 2-3 rd - as well as some other FNH toys !!!

I am generally not a vertical pistolgrip guy but I think the SCAR may be the ideal candidate for one - short receiver version that is

Once again thanx to Brett and FNH for bringing the SCAR - L to the class

    cheers

    Good stuff.

I've seen some SCAR's at work with the cans on them but I'm not allowed to take pictures.

Question for those of you that have shot the scar.

On the ar15 when the bolt is locked back you can manually cycle the bolt via the charging to release it or you can hit the bolt release.

Is the same principle in effect on the scar L/H?

Yup. Most of the ergonomics are identical. I actually found it faster to slap the CH after a reload instead of the bolt release though.
