You're right about the 718, I was on my phone and grabbed the stats for the 625 instead which is my bad, it was not intentional to be misleading. And as you pointed out the 718 and stellite materials do have advantages over the 17-4, but many disregard the 17-4 as a viable baffle stack material, and my intention was to show this. I also meant 600F not C.

I'm not trying to be shill at all, I do not work for Griffin but I have worked for a dealer of their products and over the years have developed a good relationship with the guys at Griffin, I also use many of their products and have been impressed with them. If I came across that way I apologize, I am sure I have some brand bias as most do towards products that they have had success with.

No problem and no need to apologize! You've been around here longer than me and know how many astroturf posts we get. Being brand loyal isn't bad either. You are just super pleased with your purchases in that case, which is great. I wish I were that happy with some of mine, haha.

From what I have seen (which is literally just data sheets), 17-4PH does seem like a good way to create a good can for a good price. Hell, I've used cans with what I think are lesser stainless steels (OPS Inc) which have more than made me happy in performance or durability. It seems like 17-4PH might be the equivalent of 9310 vs. C158 in bolts: slightly weaker, but more affordable too due to being easier to work and having a lower material cost. I agree that it looks like a perfectly viable baffle stack material based on my limited knowledge.

Judging from a recent video done by Tim at MAC the Recce 5 is what it is cracked up to be. He was getting consistently low numbers on a reference sound pressure meter following Mil-Std 1447D protocols.

12:13 mark for the 10 shot average db.
