Wonder if the dough for the new design dried up.

I was really hoping we would see versions of the AK-12 stateside.

My understanding that it never got approved for adoption, even after they made a big deal about its design/release. Did it get looked at again, post 2013-14?

Interesting that they refer to the Armata as a medium tank in the article and not a Main Battle Tank.

I also wonder, since the weapon will be displayed by Naval cadets if perhaps the Russian Navy decided that they didn't like the AK-12, but weren't happy with the AK-74M, and went their own route.

From what I saw the AK-12 was being adopted on a limited basis by the Russian Army.

So the AK-12 is the new AN-94? (Except, you know, more reliable.)

The AK-12 is still the typical AK operating system, unlike the AN-94.

You mean the russians found out that its better to do incremental improvements rather than try and find the next gen wiz bang service rifle? Color me surprised

Looks like a rough copy of a magpul stock with an enhanced buttpad, CAA pistol grip, texas weapon systems top rail cover, knock off surefire, hand grenade/forward grip and a bulgarian booster brake.
