Maybe I am getting too old and risk averse, and a decade ago this would have seemed fantastic. Working in construction somewhat tempers my enthusiasm of walking around a construction site, and it's not so daring when 50 Chinese workers do the same thing without harnesses or any PPE whatsoever on a daily basis, but the view can't be beat. My true apprehension isn't the safety issue, but that I've been to a Chinese city jail. I wouldn't, as a foreigner, want to entertain the possibility of ending up a resident of the Chinese corrections system. You want me to be impressed? Get a few shots of a Chinese officer with a busted up 870 clone at low ready who hates his job, lives in a concrete cube with no running water, and is itching to tell a foreigner a thing or two about who's boss waiting for them at the bottom of the tower and see if they have enough Yuan in a paper bag to go home that night.

If people weren't already paid off for this... you want to make a public spectacle breaking the law in China? Are you out of your friggin mind?
I don't think the workers, or any workers for that matter climb on top of the actual crane itself during their normal work day. Also I kind of got the feeling they have paid someone off, especially after they unlocked that combo lock effortlessly. But then again who knows, they climb in China all the time and Dubai. Two places I would never want to see the inside of a jail cell.

I didn't watch the whole thing, just sort of clicked to the end to see where they went.
Climbed a crane or not, laborers climb the outside of bamboo scaffolded highrise wearing nothing but shorts and a shirt. The hazard is the same, the difference being a gopro would cost his year's salary. These guys climb, making a spectacle of a hazard everyone else on that site is exposed to on a daily basis. Then they continue this charade that it's somehow clandestine. I don't know why this irritates me so much, i think because it turns what is a person's daily miserable life into a staged adventure.

    A few thoughts.

First they didn't really do anything that the Chinese building workers don't do every day. Granted few Chinese constructions workers have to climb to the top of the crane, stand on the top bar and take a selfie, but if something is hung up...somebody is going up there.

Second that is still really fooking high and I ain't going up there for any reason.

Third, decent sneak and creep operation. Those guys stand out in China like a Chinese guy in the NBA. Nice infil an exfil given that they were probably under regular surveillance at any given moment. I wonder if the combination to the cable lock was "11111." I was impressed to see them grab a couple ZZZs as part of plan, good training.

But alas, the use of the "selfie stick" makes them douches as we have recently established on another thread.

Shit no. I almost had to turn the video off. Anyone know the average wages for an occupation such as this one? Pay the man.

I have a friend who just retired from a company that built towers. He said his wages weren't much more than skilled labor makes but he lived on the road with paid expenses.

I stopped after the third time I believed he was on top and began free climbing a smaller ladder. The only things that would make me attempt such a thing are things I'm willing to die for.
