Yep, been going on for as long as I can remember. I also agree that Radar and IR search and track systems are a much greater concern these days than optical tracking.
With the advent of systems like the F-35s sensor fusion "x-ray vision", optical camouflage lacks relevancy if you still show up on IR and Radar and your opponent can integrate those into a useable 360 degree synthetic vision display. If you're not LO in IR and Radar, you may as well paint your plane bright pink in that situation...

off subject, but does anyone else here wish that they could put the optical system on other fighters. Especially the raptor. My goodness what a weapon that would be.
