What in the world is wrong with public schools?

Some articles I ran across today (some old. Some new)

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...aved-life.html

Police drop charges against principal after parents complained when she gave their son her inhaler - even though it saved his life
    and...

    http://www.thepoliticalinsider.com/s...ish-classroom/

Amy Lacey, former principal at Hempstead Middle School, received harsh criticism for her recommendation, then was put on paid administrative during the winter semester. Then the school board declined to renew her contract which is the same thing as firing her.
    and...

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...-bullying.html

Popular elementary school teacher SACKED for 'public humiliation' of child because she asked him to consider how his bullying 'was hurting other students'

What is wrong with public schools? They are packed full of so called "Average Americans."

Also, you might want to re-read your last story. That teacher probably did mishandle the situation. While I may not have fired her, should would have been counseled on her technique.

Echoing Sensei, a read through the first story seems to point out the trouble was caused by two disgruntled former employees. The principal or school nurse should contacted the parents about the incident to give them a heads up, I would have been upset also, but seems to me the fired teachers were the ones who pushed the story.

Schools reflect society in general and their local communities to a large extent. Therefore, they have their share of idiots and other incompetents as represented in the population. No more. No less.

I know a couple public school teachers. It's basically a combination of horrible parents doing a horrible job parenting their horrible offspring and burned out bureaucratic administrators too afraid to stand up to said horrible parents and risking a lawsuit or embarrassment. Add to that a decent helping of statist ideologues with social engineering agendas and you have the current public school system.

Yeah, that pretty much did it for me.
Karl Marx is alive and well, he's eating a tuna sandwich in the Teachers lounge and talking leftist sh*t for all who will listen.

Despite any issues with the stories above (I don't have time to find more right now, despite that it would take all of eleven seconds to find stories of principals smoking weed and having sex with teenagers, etc) are we really going to say that Public Schools in the USA are a model of excellence?

Lot's of truth here. My mom drives school bus and the FSA is alive and well.

Correction, a multiculturally approved source of human consumable protein. To say tuna is probably discriminatory to someone somewhere.
