    Houston

Any good gun ranges in Houston friendly to the AR crowd? Preferably allow m855 ammo etc. Thank you!

I believe Shiloh Shooting, up in the NW, allows ARs when it's not too busy; they try to limit long gun usage when it's busy mostly due to noise concerns to other patrons. Call ahead, and they should usually be able give you an answer for that time of day.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

I haven't had problems at any of the outdoor ranges I've been to -

Carter's Country - off of Treaschwig in Spring

Clear Creek gun range - League City

Pasadena Shooting Club - Friendswood (I believe you must be or know a member) - http://www.psc-range.com/

American Shooting Centers (http://www.amshootcenters.com) is okay. None I have found in the Houston area are what I would consider good, but all things considered, this is the best I've found.

Agreed. Of all the listed above (except Pasadena Shooting Club, never been) ASC is the best.

I just wish I could find an outdoor range that would let me shoot my AR standing up.

Last time I went, was October 2014. I assume no standing, but honestly the last time I asked was a couple years ago. I get grief wanting to go prone between the benches.

Maybe the RO was a FNG. I once had one try to tell me I couldn't carry my concealed pistol at the range. (He saw the muzzle when my shirt slipped up a little while picking up brass) Thankfully I knew the head RO and manager at the time so the problem was quickly corrected.

Or maybe they've had a problem with idiots shooting over the berms and changed the rules. Years ago you could double tap at the rifle line but not anymore.
