    I have a box of M3s for " some day " that I
just realized I've never taken one out of the plastic .

With 30 rounds in the M3 mags and the bolt forward
it'll go fine into my Colt 6920 , but it will NOT lock
    into my BCM .
    I've got so many M2s and USGI's that it'll be a decade
    before I go to M3s .
Guess I'll reseal that box and leave a note to myself
    on top .

On another note - I also discovered that the M3 easily
    takes 31 rounds .
With 31 rounds in the M3 it will also NOT seat in a Colt 6920
    with a closed bolt .
I usually pull my ammo from bins or bags and jam in ammo
    until my mags full .
I guess you actually have to count to 30 when loading M3s .
I've never noticed this with the M2 .

    I don't like counting . YMMV .

The issue being discussed has nothing to do with how many rounds are in the mag.

Its pretty easy to tell when a mag is fully loaded. Theres no reason to count if u know the basics.

Slightly off topic question. Do the Gen 1 Novekse lowers take M3 mags?

Just tried my Armalite and Anderson lowers, no issues at all. Also no issues with my Nodak XM16E1 lower, though it felt blasphemous to even try.

Maybe. You'll just have to try it and see.

Not yet. I'm a bit hesitant to file part of the lower to see if that will allow the mags to seat properly. This is also SBR NFA registered lower. I'd love to see someone else do it and tell me if it worked before I try and risk screwing up a SBR lower.

When I said "try it" I was referring to whether or not you actually took a Gen 3 PMAG and put it into your lower?

Yes sir. I tested a bunch of them. They work on both colt lowers with zero problems. Getting them to seat in the BCM lower is a chore. It usually takes many tries and some simply won't seat with a closed bolt.

I believe he was asking if you've tried Gen M3 PMAGs.....

EDIT - well... there it is.
