Stevia is bitter and nasty. Reminds me of the pink packages that mom used...yuck.

    FWIW...

    I don't chew gum.

At one point in my life, I did regularly. Then I quit for a long time.

One day I was training a new guy and I had just ate some garlic type stuff so I thought... oh... well, gotta bite the bullet and chew on some aspartame.

Thought nothing more of it. Till I started getting shaky and jittery - not from being nervous either.

I strongly feel the effects I felt were from the chewing gum. I actually attributed it to the aspartame.

I'd be willing to let them study me on it's effects.

I try to avoid anything with HFCS or any artificial sweeteners.

Did you actually check to see if the gum you were chewing contained aspartame? Most gums use Sugar Alcohols
such as maltitol, mannitol, sorbitol and xylitol

The only things I ever ingest that contain aspartame are protein bars and protein powder. Never really noticed any strange effects, although the unknown possible long term effects were at the back of my mind.

I stopped drinking soda around the same time I stopped watching after school cartoons. Haven't really had any since. May have some at an occasional party or BBQ but a glass or two once a year doesn't count. If I'm having a beverage with dinner it's either a beer, wine or a few shots.

I don't remember having any side effects from soda. I keep regular white sugar, brown sugar and beet sugar at home but more often I use Splenda. Have been using it for years with no side effects. A packet or two with a 20oz cup of morning coffee, once or twice a day. Occasionally tea in the evening with a tsp of Splenda

I stay away from artificial sweeteners mainly because I don't like the taste/aftertaste. I also remember a while back there was a study that Nutrasweet or Aspartame (can't recall which) was turning into Formaldehyde in diet sodas if they were exposed to high temperature (as in 100F or hotter) during shipping.

    Yes

I cannot find any gum in normal places that doesnt have aspartame in it.

Im sensitive to stuff going into my body.
Like, pills for instance. The couple of times I've had to take pain pills, they have always made me sick. And my dosage was below what I was told was normal.

When I received the bi-cilin (spelling) shot at 30thAG my left butt cheek... Lol it swelled up twice its size. Found out I was allergic to penicillin.

Another one, alcohol. Im good with a weak American Beer. I start taking a few shots of stuff, my stomach burns on the first one and puking by the 5th.

You can't find Trident gum? I actually can't think of a major brand that does contain aspartame

    Looked again tonight.

All 5-6 flavors of Trident had not only Aspartame but phenylalanine and sucralose.

As did 3 other brands that I have checked out this week.
