In ep2 when they are in the tower and the american dude boots the door, brit goes in and does a single 180 degree sweep and hardlines to a wall, thats....pretty ****ing accurate.
From what I remember they have former SAS guys advising them and showing the actors how to hold and move with the guns.

Different units teach different different things, specifically rifle holding techniques when clearing rooms/holding on a doorway or whatnot, so its not uncommon.

It does look odd. My guess is they have whatever guns the producers and prop despertment decided on using for that scene. The actors have no idea what the AFG is for so they just hold the gun the way the were advised. MP5, AK, AR they seem to hold them the same way. Always at the magwell. They were shown once or twice and just apply it to all.

Still, of all the TV shows on today, Strikeback has the best gun play. Hell, this is possibly the only TV show where I have seen the actors reload during a firefight lol. TV will never be perfect, these guys get it good enough to be believable.

I've always attributed a lot of the holds to the fact that they block the face of the actor and it becomes helmets, guns and eyes and you lose the characters. The support hand out all the way, especially how Costa does it with the over hand grip really hides the face. In pistol the isosceles versus Weaver- the Weaver is more 'photogenic'.

In the pic above with the MP5, unless he's got a red dot on the right side of the gun, I have to think that orientation is probably for blocking (or not blocking) reasons.

I'm sure the Art15 movie will have some fun with the concept.

ETA: Easier for flexing biceps with a magwell hold. I do that when chicks are at the range. Double up on the gun show baby.

If you can't win a gun fight against a lightly-trained individual during broad daylight with 88 rounds of 30-06, I'm not sure you'd be able to do it with... any other firearm.

Ok, I've got an El Camino full of rampage here, so what's the plan?
