I won't wear anything but Lowa or Salomon. Lowa boots have been my go to boots for years. The Salomons I'll throw on for training or when I need to put BDU's or something on quickly.

These dont necessarily meet your requirements, but i'll never wear anything other than Danner's; specifically, ones that are stitch down and are recraftable. Most boots i've worn have been destroyed in 1 year or less. I've had my Danner Acadia's for almost 3 years now. I was standing in 5 inches of moving water last night watching a house - feet stayed dry. I could go on and on about how tough they are. But, that's what I demand. If your just walking a beat - yeah, there are probably more comfy boots out there.

Reebok has a side zip boot, no idea what the weight is on it. Ive been wearing Belleville MiniMils for a while and love the way they feel and lack of weight, but Im getting sole separation already at the flex points and taking them off to clear a metal detector 2-3 times a day gets old. I like the idea of going to a side zip boot myself, but weight is my main priority when selecting boots.

I wore the hell outta these for about 7 years before going with the UA's.

In fact, I still have these. The boot itself held up top notch. The soles are now worn down so I don't like to wear them but they are still definitely in usable condition should I have to wear them.

They are not heavy. Side zip. If you must go side zip I can only recommend these from personal experiences. These, too, have also held up in a light field environment as well as more of a patrol type environment.

I have been wearing a pair of Blackhawk boots that are not insulated, which are very comfortable. For insulated boots, I have Danner's.

Available in both GTX and non-GTX. On Promotive, if one qualifies for that. No zippers, though; I use Haix XR1s for my station boots, but that's with the VFD, so the mission's different. FWIW, the Haix have been pretty good to me.
