    I don't recall that one.

He's giving us lots of material.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

I think I will keep my opinions to myself on this one.
Someone should be along any minute to set us all straight and call names.

I was raised catholic, I don't consider myself a hypocrite because I have weapons to protect my family and I. Pope needs to check himself fo he wrecks himself.

I guess Apostle Peter, , was a f-ing "hypocrite" for carrying a sword and cutting that feller's ear off in the garden RIGHT BESIDE Christ Jesus. I guess CHRIST was a hypocrite for saying "Let He who hath no sword..sell his coat, and buy one". NOWHERE in the New Testement, and I seriously doubt in The Old Testement either...does it say weapons are a sin, and self defense of yourself, others, or country is a sin. One of my favorite war verses is Neamiah 4:14..Be NOT ye afraid of them...remember the Lord, for He is Great & Terrible! FIGHT for your bretheren, for your sons & your daughters, for your wives, and for your households".
Christ was surrounded by sword carrying men, period. These people who want Christ to be this hippy, peacenik, wuss PISS ME OFF GREATLY.
F THE POPE, and his funny f-in hat, too.
" Be NOT ye afraid of them..
Remember the Lord, for He is GREAT & TERRIBLE!
FIGHT for your bretheren..for your sons & for your daughters,
for your wives & for your households"!

I could've sworn Someone very important to the Pope is on record saying "If you do not have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one."

JPII was a strident anti-communist and the Church had a lot to do with the downfall of the Soviet Union- as Reagan, Thatcher and the inherent decrepit Soviet economy. JPII's background shaped his views and his actions. He saw the evil in the Communist system and attacked it in Europe and also tamped down a lot of the leftist liberation theology in Latin America.

This Pope has another set of experiences and he sees himself attacking evil- but oddly he doesn't seem to be addressing the issues directly in the area where he was exposed to- but rather in the rest of the world. It would be like JPII being anti-communist and leaving the Soviet Union alone but going after Bernie Sanders.

We finally have a Southern Hemisphere Pope, but he seems intent on tweaking the Northern hemisphere Catholics in a revenge for colonialism theme. Add in that the press takes pains to make the Pope seem as left as can be. They do the same thing with Piketty and his Capital book- so much that he had to come out an reign them back in a bit. The Pope hasn't really done that. I think the Pope is scared about losing the young, and he should, but pandering to the reported lefty trends of the youth makes you popular, but not necessarily right.

Call me when he walks around/drives around in the open, attends state functions without armed security, and dismisses the Swiss Guards.

Until then, the Emperor has no clothes.

As for his ideas. Is he planning on the Vatican subsidizing all the dhimmi when they are forced to pay Jizya, since being "good non-hypocritical Christians", they don't manufacture, own or use weapons? Or is he suggesting that Christians create a group of non-Christian "Janissaries" to that will own weapons to protect us from Muslims that don't have a stupid "leader" telling them not to be able to defend themselves?

Maybe herds of Christians decrying horrible violence with an elite warrior caste of culturally separate outsiders that have all the weapons.

    Yeah, that should work....

Until those with the guns realize they don't really have to take orders when they can give them instead.

Yep. Just another elitist hypocrite to me.
What if this whole crusade's a charade?
And behind it all there's a price to be paid
For the blood which we dine

Crow hunter beat me to it. I'll take him seriously when he ditches his security details and leads by example. Till then he is another talking head. Irony: Catholicism is under physical attack in certain parts of the world; loosing membership like crazy in others and this guy chooses to alienate people. LOL. Leadership: you're not doing it right.
