    try dope for 16.5" barrel running 168 grain federal gold medal match

    does anyone have mil based dope for a 16.5" or 16" barrel shooting 168 grain federal gold medal match out to maybe 600+?

    Way to many variables (twist, height over bore, elevation) to use someone else's dope at +600, my two 16" guns very by almost .05 mil. Always need to true when going that distance.

    Any good ballistic calculator app will get you that info on your phone in seconds. As mentioned there is a lot more to it than bullet and barrel length. The good apps also have the ability for you to true up the range card to actual observation.

    You should be between 2475-2500 fps. Go JBM ballistics and use the calculator they offer. Not pasting correctly as you would see it, I'm sure you can follow it though, if not, do a search, takes 2 minutes.

    At 0 DA, you are at 5.6 mils with 2475 low, 2500 high

    You can measure it pretty easily and take the guess work out of it.
    I use 2.8 inches.

    FYI, 168FGMM comes in right around 2500 from my 16" barrels.
