Child porn, soliciting and screwing minors and he gets 5-12 years? Did he give the prosecutor free Subway coupons for life or something?

My guess is the case wasn't a slam dunk and they offered him a plea deal. He looked at it as either taking 5 years and still probably being rich when he gets out (able to move) or try and win the court case and looking at much much longer.

Only 15 years for his crimes, but considering how such people are viewed in prison, it will be a long stay for Jared. Always thought he was creepy.


Ex-Subway pitchman sentenced to 15-1/2 years on child sex charges

Former Subway sandwich chain pitchman Jared Fogle on Thursday was sentenced to 15-1/2 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to child pornography and sex charges.

Fogle, who became famous after losing weight on a diet that included sandwiches from the fast-food chain, agreed in August to a deal with prosecutors under which he would plead guilty to charges of child pornography and traveling for illicit paid sex with minors.

Fogle agreed in court on Thursday to avoid pornography, get sexual disorder treatment and will be a registered sex offender. U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt also sentenced him to a lifetime of supervision and a $175,000 fine.

Pratt went beyond what either side wanted: prosecutors had sought a 12-1/2 year sentence, while Fogle's attorneys had asked for five years.

"The defendant was obsessed with child pornography and sex with minors," Pratt said. Fogle was remanded to the custody of a U.S. Marshall, and Pratt recommend he go to a federal prison in Littleton, Colorado.

Dr. John Bradford, a forensic psychiatrist testifying for the defense at the sentencing hearing, said Fogle was mostly attracted to older female teenagers 16 and 17 years old, not prepubescent children.

Prosecutors countered the testimony by reading a text from Fogle in which he said he wanted younger prostitutes, "the younger the better."

Bradford also said Fogle has an alcohol problem, and had a compulsive eating disorder that moved into "hypersexuality" after he lost weight.

"He traded a horrible food addiction for a horrible sex addiction," said defense attorney Jeremy Margolis.

Fogle spent at least $12,000 a year or more on prostitutes, and had a number of extramarital affairs, prosecutors said.

Fogle cried during his statement before sentencing, saying his wife and children would never get over this.

"You gave your wife $7 million, she'll be okay," Pratt responded. Fogle's wife filed for divorce, according to media reports.

Fogle said he now acknowledges that the minors involved had been gravely harmed.

Subway fired Fogle when reports of the plea agreement emerged. He has already begun to pay $1.4 million in restitution to 14 victims who are minors.

I realize some 16 and 17 year olds can look like 21 year olds, but if that is what you are attracted to then YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. If you are specifically attracted to 16 and 17 year olds, but not anyone 18, 19 or 20 then it really doesn't matter that you aren't attracted to 8 and 9 year olds, you still have a problem.

I've seen a LOT of late teen girls in south florida who are obviously attractive and sexually developed, and one day they are going to be smoking hot adults. But I'm not interested in them because they are 16 or 17 years old, besides the fact that I'm married, I'm attracted to adult females.

Not the therapist used the term "mostly." That would presume both much younger and "mostly" a bit older. "Mostly"? Ok..."He mostly only murdered prostitutes but occasionally old ladies and children" It's like that me thinks.

I watched the Dr. Phil episodes (Yeah, I know) about the Woman that turned him in after hooking up with the FBI. 15 years is a slap on the wrist for what this cunt deserves to happen to him. He will get preferential treatment, and not be in gen pop very often, if ever.

Why does this case interest people? Because he's "famous?" There are numerous other cases in the news right now where the offender wears a badge, a cassock, and at least one government official in the headlines. These are the people who the citizenry is supposed to trust, in legit roles of power, who commit the same crimes, or worse, and in my opinion are far more newsworthy than some ex-fat **** fast-food spokesman.
