    Couple questions on my precision rifle build.

    This is the link to my build with a couple pictures and build list.

    https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread...22#post2158522

    First:
    My lower will be shared with my carbine upper.
    Will the 3 oz. carbine buffer and spring work with the precision upper with rifle length gas ?
    From what I have read, it might but I do not want to batter anything when I take it out for my first test drive.

    Second:
    The PWS free float does not need gas tube orientation so I just torqued to 30 ft.lbs. three times(loosening in between) and then a final torque of 45 ft.lbs. with Moly greased threads.
    Does that sound like a good torque to settle on ?

    I have run low on my budget for the month so scope purchase will be later.
    Also if you say I need a different buffer and spring setup.
    I will just be shooting XM193 while doing the recommended barrel break in procedure from Lija(it is a pricey barrel and want to follow manufactures guidelines).

    This is my first precision AR build.
    Years ago I built an M1a that was really fun and very accurate.
    Also shot midrange F/TR with a Savage in .308 and made Expert class.
    Thinking to maybe use this for F class shooting also just for fun.

    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks;
    Clarence

    If this is a designated "precision" build, I would recommend building a specific lower with an A1/2 fixed stock (but that's just me). Be that as it may, I see absolutely nothing wrong with your set up, and you should be able to run your carbine buffer with rifle length gas system with no issues. You could always go with a heavier buffer if you wanted to experiment.

    Cheek weld for me on a fixed stock without going to an exotic one is problematic.
    The ACS-L is close to perfect for me.
    Waiting on the scope and then break in.
    Will post targets when the time comes.
    $2K ish upper build, we will see...
    With over a hundred views on this post with only Toecheese chiming in makes me wonder that there are no precision shooters on this forum, just run and gunners.
    Not that there is anything wrong with that.
    I have been a precision shooter with shotgun, rifle and pistol for all my life, never got into the other.
    Some will say precision with a shotgun...
    How many 100 straights have you shot in Skeet

    See you guys around;
