    You Might want to email or PM him, Clint. I am just relying info he gave me. You may want to consider getting a DD 10.5" CHF barrel and just using one of his MicroTune gas blocks with the port insert to the size you want. It would be less brain damage than cutting and porting a barrel, IMO.

    say a guy cuts his barrel and then finds out it isnt quite big enough, other than having it opened up more, would a carbine buffer (and different spring)
    make a difference?

    Yes, although it might not be enough of a difference to guarantee reliable functioning.

    The best option is to make the gas port the proper size.

    Changing buffers and spring should only be an option if the gas port can't be fixed.

    Short barrels are more sensitive to proper buffer selection and really benefit from the heavier options like H2 and A5.

    I would tend to agree with Clint on this. For a carbine action system with an H2, a properly gassed H2 would give the wider range in function in general than the lighter action weights like the H1 or 3 ounce carbine type action systems for most. There are some that deviate from this some, but that's an exception, not the rule.
