I used the Fisher tool to replace sights on my G43 and another G43 owned by a friend. That's two sets in the first week of owning the tool. Now that I am retired, I am working on somebody elses M1 carbine or pistol on a weekly basis. As a rule of thumb, I do not like to pound a part when I can push it.

I've been using the Fisher for several years on Glocks and Sigs without issue, though like said above I use a piece of leather around the slide to protect it.

I also lock mine in a vice while doing it so it's stable. Never messed up any sights. I did lightly scratch a Sig slide one time but that was purely my fault.

There's nothing wrong with a hammer and brass/aluminum or polymer punch. If sights were that fragile they wouldn't hold up to the abuse of shooting. For me the ability to put them on easily, without marring of any kind and most importantly the ability to fine tune EXACT poi. I just can't do that with a punch, that damn thing either wont move or goes too far, then too far the other way and we do that about a dozen times until the sight ends up where I started and needs to be moved again.... The Sight-Pro is a work of art and for those of us changing out a lot of sights it's worth it. If you're just banging in a Glock rear and you are hitting center at 30ft and that's close enough (for you) then I wouldn't waste your money. The dedicated tools are very nice too but, I used a glock one for 10yrs before selling it off.

The reason that I don't use a hammer and punch for tritium sight installation is because of information I received from an armorer at the county Sheriff's Department. He told me he used a hammer and punch to install night sights on their issue Smith and Wesson semi-automatic pistols. He also said that the most of the ten year night sights were failing in 6 to 12 months. Once he started pressing the sights on instead of pounding them on the sights lasted for years not months.

Sometime years ago, I killed a set of tritium sights with a hammer and brass punch. They were dark in about an hour. Very tight sights.
I have pushed every handgun sight since.
I have the flock (damn autocorrect) tool. But for everything else, I have a custom setup that uses a mill vice and spacers and a clamp. The vice pushes them in or out with a custom pusher. Absolute control, I can move them almost to. 001".

I also have the Fisher and I've changed out about a dozen rear sights in the last 2 years.

I use heavy card stock as padding (comes in the box of Kirkland dog biscuits) and it has worked great.

That one on Ebay for 79 looks pretty nice for the money!

I've been using a fisher, but it won't work on the VP9, with the charging tabs, so I finally bit the bullet and ordered a MGW sight pro. It should be here early next week. Big $$ for sure, but probably the last sight tool I'll ever need.

Did you try the HK USP blocks with your Fisher tool?

I've tried a "universal sight pusher" tool which I've posted about in the past in this forum. It didn't work great, though they did finally refund my money. I went to an MGW and never looked back, problem solved.

Yes I tried the USP blocks, it won't work without cutting a relief for the tabs to fit in. I got the MGW tool today, installed the Trijicon HD's on the VP9 in about 15 minutes. This thing is bad ass. The price hurts, but I really, really like it.
