But, I have to say, a manufacturer that doesn't make any for two years, then starts putting them out again scares me as much as a manufacturer that makes too many and grows too fast.

While I'm sure the new BCM's are going to be superb, it's kinda like a first year model car. I'm not going to buy it until I see that there are no kinks and things are good to go. They'll probably be gone by then, but I hope not.

You concern really is not a valid one. The reason why you have not seen any BCM products for a long time is that they (BCM) couldn't not find any barrel steel that would meet their specs. Prior to this BCM got barrel steel that did not meet their high standards and so they rejected it all (on their dime)!
The consumer most likely would have never known what was wrong with the barrels, but Paul knew. I ask you how many other manufacturers would have done that? The answer is just about none.

I can gurantee that BCM uppers go through more fussing and testing than just about any other upper on the planet. No "first year model car" worries at all.

As companies grow though, they sometimes forget their roots and push too many guns out the door

You have a lot of faith in BCM hopefully you are right...

I have had a BCM M4 16 inch upper for over 2 years and it is without doubt the best upper I have or have ever shot. If you had one you would understand .and at $449.00 it is a outstanding bargin . you keep waiting and they will all be gone and you will have to wait untill the next batch .

When i started my M4 build, i was given a shopping list of recommended suppliers. My friend who is helping with the build gave BCM top recommendation for the upper but warned me that they had just rejected a batch of barrels and that i might have to wait until BCM was satisfied. My friend does reviews and evaluations on different weapons platforms, along with building his own platforms, and publishes his reviews in the gun magazines. I have been waiting for nearly a year so that i could get a BCM upper and during that time i've been doing alot of research, talking with gunsmiths, looking at the range, comparing products.

The only other upper i might consider would be the Noveske N4, and that is due to the cold hammer forged barrel. Otherwise the BCM is my choice hands down.

That is good to know. I will be jumping on one of those mid-lengths as soon as they arrive. I have a feeling that even if something wasn't right, they'd make it right anyway, and there are no mid-length uppers out there if this quality at that price that I can find.

Also, as an aside, I received an LMT upper from you last week (my first one, until now it has all been Bushmaster for me). I already had a new Dennys super Duty BCG ready to go in it. Put on a Troy MRF-DI rail, and popped it on a Stag lower and shot it yesterday for the first time with a carry handle. Wow, is all I can say. At 25 yds, American Eagle 55gr and Privi 75gr match would both put ragged holes 1" below center from a rest. At 50, they opened up ever so slightly. Can't wait to really ring it out once the Aimpoint ML3 gets here (also from your shop). Thanks.
