    Herbalife

I have been replacing a couple meals each week with Herbalife smoothies. Anyone else drinking them? Thoughts? Seems like it has been helping to maintain the weight I like as long as I keep running and playing tennis!

Dump it as fast as you can....

Long history of causing sever liver issues.

Company has very poor ethics multiple suits pending due to health issues and financial maleficence.

All I needed to know about the company I learned from their distribution method. Pyramid schemes rarely support a good product.

There's a series of comments in the analysis of this company's financials and ethics on Seeking Alpha that corroborate the above comments. Pretty telling when a stock analysis prompts a string of criticism above and beyond the numbers. I think you need to actually join Seeking Alpha to read all this, but it's a free service. *not trying to promote SA-just trying to quote a source*

Ugh. Bummer to hear all that. But I guess, financial stuff aside, it goes back to all things in moderation. I only have 1 - 2 a week. I am told my favorite fast food burger is bad for me too...but, I still eat it about the same ratio! Especially after a 5k or Half. LOL

Cite? I'm about as far from a defender of MLMs as you can get, but that's an over the top statement.

Just say no to MLM. I'm not a fan of the business model, but as MLM goes, there's worse than Herbalife. That's not an endorsement for that MLM but a statement of how bad some of them really are.

Supplements should be supplemental (hence the name) to a solid nutrition plan, but you're unlikely to do yourself any harm 1-2 per week.

I know a guy who went on their "program" and starting having medical issues that forced him to go off the program and see a doctor.

I don't know if the doctor was certain that the Herbalife was the culprit, but he told the patient to "cease and desist" Herbalife's products just in case.

The guy was fine a few weeks after quitting Herbalife.

Lots of pending lawsuits over the last 10 years, all surrounding liver failure.

Bellow are just some of the more public highlights.

in 2004 Israel banned their products due to the concern is was giving people hepatitis.
in 2007 they were sued in Switzerland for other cases linking the consumption of their product and hepatitis.
in 2008 they were sued for lead contamination in CA, several independent labs confirmed the contamination.
in 2009 they "reengineered" the products to avoid a lawsuit in Spain and the complaint was dropped. Some speculate that hush money was pushed because there was never a retesting of the product to ensure the new formulas were free of hepatitis causing elements.

They are currently under investigation by the FTC, and all indications are they are going to get slammed. Many speculate that they will fold since they have a tremendous amount of debt and most of their backers have taken their ball and gone home.

Way too many solid supplements out there to roll the dice with these clowns.
