FYI, Surefire has changed the standard tactical tailswitch to revised clicky switch.

    PSA:
I ordered new G2X tactical flashlights and was surprised when I received a light with a clicky switch and only one (max) output mode with packaging stating as much (though the product listing had yet to be updated). I adhere to the momentary only doctrine of weapon mounted flashlights and prefer the classic tactical style tailcap with momentary-only push and constant-on twist. This, however, seems to be a minority practice, since Surefire confirmed the in-line change that all tactical flashlights (G2X, 6PX, Fury) now have a revised clicky switch: press lightly for momentary-on, press further to a click for constant-on. The clicky switch has been revised in order to try to mitigate accidently pushing through the momentary only stage to a click and ending up with your light remaining on as you move positions. The first stage is clicky is now longer and spongier before reaching the firm tactile click.

Surefire said they might offer the classic tactical tailcaps separetly going forward but in the meantime they were happy to take care of my new lights.

Those ordering might want to confirm with your vendor if the tactical light is new, old stock or if it is the new version.

Yep, I just got half a dozen G2X tactical lights in, and they all came with the clicky switch instead of momentary. Shucks.

I myself do not have an issue with this. Granted i havent used a g2x tactical as a weapon light for quite some time and mine are solely handhelds with the tailcaps replaced for clicky ones. Knowing the models now coming with clicky caps makes me want a p6x more.

This is a bad move by Surefire IMO.

Thinking through this I realize many of Surefire customers buying flashlights are using them primarily in handheld functions oftentimes administrative. The change makes sense in that regard but then again the pro models already came with a clicky switch included and a low mode for menial tasks. While I am waiting on my replacement tailcap I might give the revised clicky a shake, it definetly feels different and spongy, not sure what I think.

Slippers, love your light mounts! Ever thought of a cantelevered variant for your off-set mounts? I'll post pics of my set up using a MOE SL handguards and my less than ideal solution for getting the G2X further forward.

I dismantled and removed then click feature on my Scout light. A little bit of a PITA, but doable.

Can't please everyone...unless they would just include both.

    For HH I want clicky.

Not everyone I thinks wants the dual modes. I personally am not a fan of the way the dual set up is for a Surefire, though it is worlds better than some. As uch as I will get flamed for this, the best dual mode set up I have ever used, was an old Fenix TK10. Twist bezel to stops for full power mode at 200 lumens, a quarter turn off, and you had 60 lumens at like 10 hours. I wish there was a set up like that for a Surefire I would have half a dozen if not more, because, while I still have that Fenix, I personal feel that the Surefire is a better made light, but that selection option to me, is the best since I hate clicking through modes. This is of course me.

True. And am the same way with handhelds as well, of which I think most people out there who aren't mounting them on carbines, are as well.

We've been working on a cantilever mount specifically for the Magpul SL and AK polymer handguards. It will fit scouts and have a ring option, and let you position the light pretty far forward.

As a flashlight junkie, I absolutely agree with your assessment of output modes! FourSevens, a company with similar interfaces to Fenix, just discontinued their Quark line up with the tightened/losened bezel mode sets, much to my dismay (the Quark Pro 2xcr123a was the best EDC light out there IMO)! The Surefire pros should have this interface with the clicky switch instead of the on/off sequential loop. The tacticals should go back to the way were. Problem is the new Surefire lights have sealed bezels.
