So check out this link Kain:

Apparently Elzetta has a dual output tail cap changed from high to low via a twist like Fenix but with the tail cap instead of the head. They are clicky switch tail caps too for handheld use, also classic twist momentary only tail caps are available. I think this may be the ticket for what you and I are looking for from Surefire as described above. Malkoff Devices produces the internals and is well regarded as one of the best most robust USA made flashlight companies.

Sounds great! I just noticed your momentary only twist tail cap for scout lights

Yep, I'm a fan of momentary switches for weapon lights. I designed that switch since there aren't any alternatives for scout lights.

Anyone else think the momentary switch (on the G2X anyway) is kind of stiff. They may have had a few complaints resulting in the change.

I prefer the clicky tailcaps over the momentary ones, as that is what I run on almost all of my Scout lights and using them momentarily is how I was trained. In saying that, I have a couple of the standard momentary G2X and 6PX tailcaps if anyone is interested in trading their Clicky tailcaps one-for-one. PM me if you are interested.

It is, but it's a very easy fix. The spring is inserted into a hole in the aluminum part inside the tailcap. You can take a pair of pliers and push an additional coil of the spring down inside the hole, and reduce the tension. Easy to undo if you don't like it, as well.

I agree with Kain and jerrysimmons. The dual mode by twisting the bezel is one of the simplest and user friendly interfaces. I read on candlepowerforums that Fenix and Four Sevens were forced to quit selling lights of this design because it infringed on patents held by Surefire. I can't understand why Surefire doesn't offer this.

Probably has to do with the pull/twist bezels on the V series IR/White lights, like the 620V and 300V. I realize it isn't the same, but maybe close enough for the patent.

If this is the case why is Surefire not offering a model with a similar, twist bezel to choose output. Myself and others here aren't asking for much. At least not in my view. A couple flashlight models with a twist bezel option, with two outputs, high and low. Would PERSONALLY like to see one model similar to the VTAC L4, which is made by Surefire, with a high output in the range of anything from 150-250 lumen, and a low range of 40-80. Anywhere in there and I am happy. Give me a run time of 1 hour plus on high, and 4 plus on low and an MSRP at or under $200 and I will be there. A larger model, with higher max output and two cell, longer run times, ect, ect, ect, and I will replace my G2X tacticals with it, even more if it is in a similar price range.

Hell, if their new titan keychain light had given me the option of twist one way for high, and the other for low I would already have it, if not three at the price point. The make like a ratchet driver to go from one to the other turned me off. No pun intended.

And I know I sound like I am whining, but I just want things to be simple, to where I can either set them and know it will be a certain output, or quickly adjust without cycling outputs with a button. While there are other options out there, I just wish Surefire would offer similar ones. I have come to trust their lights much more than others I have had, and considering some of the abuse that I have put their lights through and had the lights continue to run where others have given up the spirit with much less use or abuse.

It would be really neat if they offered the 300V in a configuration where you had a low and high output for white light, instead of white/IR.
