I just drove a 6 speed manual Toy FJ Cruiser a few days ago, didn't even know they existed! It looks like a cartoon truck but i hear they are good offroad.

Now I want one but it can't replace my F150.

If you want one you better jump on it, this is the last year of production for them and they are going to command a high premium on the used market due to how popular they are with the overlanding crowd. They're already expensive used because they are Toyota. Btw they are good off road, like most other Toyotas 4x4's.

I almost picked one up, but they were fetching WAY too much for a vehicle with 50,000+ miles.

Coolest interior of any passenger vehicle I've ever been in.

Toyotas in general tend to be pretty pricy for used vehicles, and FJ's even more so. Can't beat that Toyota reliability though, and they are legendary off road.

I don't really post much here anymore but for some reason this thread came up on a feed of mine and I thought I'd put these pictures up just to spin things in a different direction:

20 miles of ocean between me and my BOL. I can walk easily to the marina, which is a private facility, secure and hidden at the back of a farm not far from here. I can launch with no power using a hand winch, and have crossed in sustained 25 knot winds with no issues. Worst waves we've seen have been steep 8 footers. A bit rough and we have had waves crest over the bow a few times when it's been harsh enough to have to drive straight into a wave. But that's a very seaworthy hull, built locally of 5/8" fiberglass specifically for heavy weather. It's very capable and probably the crossing could be made safely in 35kt winds, although it wouldn't be pleasant. On the other hand, locally that basically means a maximum of 3 days waiting.

Being that it's a secure, private, and hidden marina, I feel pretty comfortable walking down there and waiting out any storm. I mean obviously I'd rather drive, which would make life really easy, but the point is if all roads were impassable, I'd just walk down with a 3-day pack and wait for a good crossing.

    BOL is...ready.
Full disclosure: I'm the editor of Calibre Magazine, which is Canada's gun magazine. In the past I've done consulting work for different manufacturers and OEM suppliers, but not currently. M4C's disclosure policy doesn't seem to cover me but we do have advertisers, although I don't handle that side of things and in general I do not know who is paying us at any given time.

50k is still pretty new for a Toyota.

True. We had a Taco work truck that was pushing 286,000k and some change, until some field personnel totaled it...

This whole 'bugging out' thing for most I think is a bit extreme. Unless there is a major roof level flood, wildfire that has wiped out entire developments, or CAT 5 hurricane, I'm staying home.
