Some people may, but I would not. The reason is that products that are made by man are prone to failure. So just because a company puts out a bad batch of something should not be held against them.
To date I have received bad parts from EVERY SINGLE MANUFACTURER we stock. That means that LT, DD, Magpul, Trijicon, Aimpoint, EOTech, ADM, SureFire, Colt, LMT, VLTOR, etc ,etc has all sent us bad items or entire orders filled with incorrectly made parts. I hold it against none of them.

Working in quality/mission assurance supplying propulsion systems to prime contractors and DOD I have personally experienced the pain of having those customers arriving on-site to help determine defect root cause- some of which included workmanship and cosmetic issues. They just raise questions about overall quality, especially what cannot be seen.
On the other hand my Bushmaster Patrolman was flawless in appearance when I bought it , but required rework to correct functional issues.
My experience mirrors Grants, but not to his extent. I've seen bad stuff on Colt, CMT and now LMT. Shit happens. No one is immune.

Yeap thats it exactly.
BCG that are machined as smooth as a rail spike do not inspire confidence either.Made me feel like I needed a spare to have for my spare.

Grant,
The LMT BCG I ordered from you the first of the week came this afternoon. Its just as nice as the one that I got from you with my upper a few weeks ago...very nicely finished and well made...another work of art so to speak. You must hand pick the stuff you sell...
The first BCG that came with my upper is marked AB and this last one is marked AC.The cobby LMT BCG I got from another dealer is marked Z.
The difference is daylight and dark in comparison.
Thats what makes folks like myself wonder whats up.
i just got in a 6 pack of MP-z's last week. all smooth as silk. the place i got them from however does not move a lot of stock and these could be last years production--or even older. all came with crane 0-ring, heavy spring and extractor. very tight in in spc everywhere.
on one i am running on the d4mle ran 500+ rounds of very mixed ammo with no hiccups. on the 500+round cleaning and inspection all most no wear was seen and no abnormal marks.
after reading this thread i thought i would double-check them under a 30x magnification and run a die inspection. still nothing abnormal.---
some sub par parts must have got into the pipeline somewhere for this to have happened. some how a second got out--thats my theory.
i would add that all brands can and do turn out 'turkeys" from time to time. anytime i buy anything i open the box and give the part a through going over before i attempt to run it and if i see ANYTHING the least bit wrong---she goes BACK!
so far i haven't had but one problem child with LMT--and it's problem wasn't the BCG!
over the years i can't complain about LMT's BCG's. i run them and BCM's in everything i have AR wise and they have been on the money for me.![]()
Final update:
Bolt came back today. It is the original bolt.

If it's genuine LMT bolt, why didn't you ask them to replace it?
I A'M SHOCKED THEY DIDN'T SEND YOU A NEW BOLT. could it be that everything they have in stock looks that way ? it may be ugly but I'm sure it will function and last a long time . you should be fine with that bolt, try not to let it get you down.![]()
