i leaned my rifle against the wheel gaurd on my mule atv today and now it has a nice rubber coating on one side (sigh)

on the plus side, the kx3 on a 10.5 inch lmt upper with an h2 buffer ran without a hiccup today (about 300 rounds)

any hints on how to take melted rupper off a kx3 appreciated.

I'd just shoot it & get it hot, take a few paper towels (doubled over to be very thick as to not burn yourself) and take a quick wipe at it.

Spray liberally with OFF bug spray and allow it to soak in. It will soften/dissolve most of the rubber.

    By accident?

Timex Ironman watches don't react well to bug spray... or spray on sunscreen...
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."- John Stuart Mill English economist & philosopher (1806 - 1873)

    hmmmm bug spray

i'm going to give it a try and the little bit left. after it cooled off completely most of it just flaked off. still a little bit left. If it doesn't come off it will just give it character i guess.

heh, DEET is nasty stuff. I grew up in Alaska, just looking at a bottle of OFF makes my liver hurt. We'd use the 95-99% DEET when we dip net for red salmon, and when it rained our raingear would start melting from it.
