Thanks for the link. Aside from the Loctite, my receiver extension is properly installed and staked. RE is an A5 so I wont be changing anything out anymore. Looks like the primary issues arise when parts are switched out? I just wanted to be sure I hadn't missed any info that had to do with Loctite and cycling/function etc. Again, the local smith acted like I was a weirdo for requesting the RE/end plate be staked. He was all about some Loctite.
It won't affect function, but is something that will have to be dealt with if the RE ever needs to be removed.

If I have to remove a RE, I take a punch and tap the staking out of the slot on the castle nut instead of using the wrench to break the staking.

+1 on the spring punch. Harbor freight carries them.

A few months ago, I went to Lowes to buy a spring punch. Couldn't find one. Asked the clerk. He said we stopped carrying them. Why? Because they are an auto burglary tool. I said okay.... Where are your bricks? He never made the connection..... Home Depot had em for like $10. Used it twice before it broke.

I've used both an auto-punch and a starrett prick punch + ball peen hammer. I feel like I have a little better control flowing the metal with the prick punch. YMMV.

The prick punch was around $7 on Amazon.

Should of asked where the porcelain was

I've use the one from harbor freight about a dozen time and have sharpened the tip once. Cheap enough to buy two!

Two stakes is all that is required.

As far as punches, I made one out of a broken Brownells fixed blade screwdriver; removed the handle then ground and hardened it. I made it like a angled rectangle so it gets a bite on the nut and drives the material into the opening of end plate. It leaves less of a chance of a sharp edge than the ones I center punched. Ironically, it looks a lot like BCM's factory staking job.

I've always thought about doing the same thing but never got around to it.

I meant to type 2 places. I was up for 36 hours working with no sleep and didn't proof read my post. We all make mistakes.

You means "posts", as in plural.
