Yes, but it is rarely prosecuted. My brother arrested a dude a few weeks ago for, among other things, felon in possession of a firearm. Prosecutor dropped the charge.
NONE of these laws will work if few are ever prosecuted. Not that it matters. Their end goal is not "common sense" gun laws, but rather a complete ban of any and all firearms.

I am sure there was an uptick in purchases following what happened in Oregon but I am actually seeing ammo prices fall. Just snagged a case of factory loaded 124gr 9mm brass case for 210 shipped and just missed out on a case of brass case factory 230gr 45 ACP @ 299 shipped. Deals are extremely plentiful at this time so take advantage where you can.

is it "panic buying" or preparedness? those who went through the AWB know the ramifications of what could happen....no matter how remote the chance

For the guys "in the business", do distribution centers and/or retail adjust their stocks or distro right after something like this happens to lead-turn demand? My guess is those guys are really good at reading the market, but the comment above about ammo prices falling got me wondering. Just curious...

Today I panic bought myself some PMAG 17 GL9s on a 5% off sale, with no sales tax, and free shipping.

Depends on how knowledgeable the dealer is. Distributors typically stock millions of rounds (just because). What normally happens (for us) is we see a run on a mags, guns and or ammo. That signals that people are paying attention to the news, realize they have an anti-gun POTUS and want to ensure their needs and wants are covered.
