Here's a 200 yard 5 shot group with the Black Hills 87gr Barnes ammo:

Also easily sub MOA. Neither of the 85 Match Burners or the Black Hills load do anything exciting at 1000 yards. We feel like we're wasting money when it takes 3-4 rounds just to get on steel.

Im not surprised this is a good terminal performer, the Army was testing some experimental 87gr 5.56 loads that were pretty explosive. Andrew on TFBTV gel tested this load and it performed better than 77gr SMK, fairly short neck on par with 75gr Hornady, lots of a frag with good chunk of core going deep. Might be a good choice for a 20" to get as much velocity as possible out of these while getting as much mass on target as you can from a 5.56.

I wonder if it's the same ammo we got. We got a few boxes of 87gr BH ammo loaded with a Barnes bullet. (200 yard group posted above) Both factory loads well under MOA at 200.

5.56mm Powell River Labs 87 grain blended metal core of powdered tungsten/ tin, in a copper jacket.
This would be one of three that competed against 27 different commercial match projectiles, for the Navys MK262MOD0 in 1999. The Sierra 77 gr Match King was eventually the winner, becoming the MK262MOD1.
Me thinks that the Powell River bullet construction was sold off to Dynamic Research Tech LLC (DRT) for thier line of Terminal Shock Frangible lead free pistol and rifle ammo.

No. Brown card stock, Ball Powder, and Black Hills manufacture. Bullet has a cannalure on the stuff we shot, I think. 2017 headstamps if I remember correctly.
