    Gas block question

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

I purchased a new barrel of the Internet for my AR pistol. I didn't notice that it is a 1/16 Correct Gas Hole Port.
Will my old gas block .075 work, do I need a 1/16 gas block, or do I drill out the hole.

    Thanks for the help

The gas port in the gas block is usually larger than the gas port in the barrel. It's fine. The 2 holes don't have to be the exact same size. The gas flow will be regulated by the smaller port in the barrel.

ETA: how does your gas block atttach?

The gas port is drilled then reamed into the barrel itself.

The barrel manufacturer sets the size.

Most all gas blocks and FSBs have transfer port sizes in the range of .125-.159".

This is larger than any useful gas port or the inside of the gas tube.

Speaking of sizes, the "diameter of gas block journal at gas port" is often listed on web sites and confused by buyers for "gas port size".

Most barrels have .750" journals, but some lightweight barrels have .625" journals and require a smaller gas block.

Most likely, the old gas block will work fine.

    Is this your first build?
