    Bomb Proof Coffee

My Bomb Proof Coffee recipe was discussed in the old coffee thread a while ago, but I wanted to make a dedicated thread. For those who have been using the recipe a while now, what's your report? Feedback continues to be very positive from other sources to date. I'm still tweaking the recipe. For example, I have been looking into using raw cacao vs. Cocoa. Research is ongoing

For those not familiar with Bomb Proof Coffee, this will get you up to speed.

"In Part I of Bomb Proof Coffee, I cover what’s in it and why, as well as how to make it, doses, sources, etc in video form HERE. If you’re new to Bomb Proof Coffee you’ll want to watch those videos for all the info you need to get started. This article will add some of the supporting science on the ingredients in Bomb Proof Coffee.

The obvious first ingredient to cover is the coffee. Coffee just continues to show itself to a have a wide variety of health benefits for both the brain and body. Not surprisingly, not all coffee is created and the levels of beneficial compounds depends on the type of processing and other factors. As the coffee itself is not the main focus of Bomb Proof Coffee per se, the Life Extension has a good article HERE covering the topic and offers a coffee with especially high levels of beneficial compounds found in coffee that might make a good choice for the coffee used in Bomb Proof Coffee."

I hope it is indeed just as good as you say it to be! I know it was proven that coffee is good for our health in general, which is great, because I simply love it!

It's extended the lives of the guys I work with, that I'm sure of.
Full disclosure: I'm the editor of Calibre Magazine, which is Canada's gun magazine. In the past I've done consulting work for different manufacturers and OEM suppliers, but not currently. M4C's disclosure policy doesn't seem to cover me but we do have advertisers, although I don't handle that side of things and in general I do not know who is paying us at any given time.

What would you be gaining over coffee with cream (no sweeteners, etc.)? Seems like the same type of fats, etc.?

Answer to that would be found the article linked. You'll also find feedback from users here in the ongoing coffee thread on their experiences vs coffee alone.

Hot off the presses and more win for Bomb Proof Coffee drinkers:

An association of cocoa consumption with improved physical fitness and decreased muscle damage and oxidative stress in athletes.

J Sports Med Phys Fitness. 2015 Dec 2.

    Abstract

Several studies have demonstrated the protective effects of cocoa consumption, due to its anti- inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Acute exercise induces oxidative stress and causes muscular damage during training. This study was designed to examine the effect of cocoa consumption on the markers of muscle damage, oxidative stress and physical fitness in professional soccer players.

Fifteen players (15-18 years old) were included in the study. Biochemical parameters, markers of muscle damage and oxidative stress, and physical performance were evaluated before and after cocoa consumption. Biochemical parameters determined the healthy metabolic status of the study group; biomarkers of muscle and oxidative damage were measured in blood to establish muscle and redox status. However, high levels of biomarkers of muscle damage were detected. Interestingly, cocoa consumption decreased the muscle damage biomarkers of CK and LDH by 39.4% and 23.03%, respectively.

The redox status was modified by a decrease in oxidative damage (carbonyl groups, 26.31%; thiol groups, 27.52%; MDA, 32.42%) and an increase in total antioxidant capacity (15.98%) and GSH-Px activity (26.37%). In addition, we observed an increase in physical performance by 4% in the Cooper test.

Our findings suggest that a short period of cocoa consumption could be useful in maintaining a good physical fitness, due to the favourable effects on muscle and redox status in athletes during exhaustive exercise.

Thanks Will. I'm going to gather up the ingredients and try it. I agree with you on the full vengeance coffee also. Really good stuff.
