A product I would love to see developed

So after fondling the sig MCX, I will admit I liked the idea of it. That being said, there is no way I am going to beta test it. It got me thinking though. Why has no one come out with a drop in bolt replacement for DI AR's like the MCX system where basically the bolt is cut down with the recoil spring behind it eliminating the need for the buffer tube? I think this would be a great product, and if it worked, I would buy it. OF course you would need some sort of adaptor to plug the receiver extension hole and allow mounting of a folding stock

It would be nice to easily retrofit current AR's to folding stocks. Granted, there is the LAW folder, but I don't care for the fact that you cannot shoot if folded, and it opens up the receiver to crap.

Military Arms Channel on youtube tried the MCX upper on a standard lower. Per him, it fired without issue. He still recommends firing it on it's lower, but the upper functions perfectly in his testing. He actually shows it being fired that way in the video. I doubt you can find a complete upper for the MCX by itself, but it's food for thought.

Yeah, I saw that. I know there was word of a mcx conversion kit, but I think a drop in both lt for the di system would be cool

That does exist and has for decades. That is exactly how the Daewoo K1A1 works.

Never saw the guts of them, but Olympic and ZM/Para have made guns of similar concept.

Can you simply drop the bcg into a stock ar and have it work? I know companies have made proprietary systems in the past, I guess I just never was aware of a drop in product.

The Z-M Weapons LR-300 did that decades ago.

In the MAC video, he also notes that the plastic tab the back of the recoil springs attach to is not fully supported by a normal AR-15 lower - notice he holds his face away from it when he shoots it like that (I don't blame him)...

It looks like that combination may not be ideal. The concept is cool though.

No. ZM used a slightly taller upper receiver and I believe a slightly different charging handle.

That is what I thought. I think if something was a simple drop in part it would sell
