Looking at BCGs for my next build and....

Well I have been looking at the bolt materials. My question is, which is better; Carpenter 158 or 9310 Tool steel? I have a nick boron BCG with a 158 bolt in my current carbine. Got about 1000 fds and no problems so far...still early I know. I am looking at a nitrided bcg for my next build.
There are no accidents; only ignorance, mechanical failure, and acts of God! I have loaded over 6 million rounds in the last 5 years and STILL have not seen it all!

I would just stick with a standard full-auto BCG from a quality manufacturer like BCM. If you want a special coating then check out the NP3 coated BCG from Sionics.

I've been looking at the nitride carriers too. I see no reason not to use one, heck if it can be used for barrels it can certainly be used for carriers, but thats just my way of thinking. FYI, Aries has them on sale right now.

I second this, I ventured away from BCM Carriers once wiht a bcg from WMD Guns, bolt cracked and I've never left bcm since

The SIONICS carrier groups are made to MILSPEC standard with the addition of NP3. They also carry a guarantee so there is little downside.

Has anybody used the bcg by griffin armament. Has some good qualities. My favorite has been young manufacturing chrome lined.

I have one and no issues. It's pretty slick and cleans up easily.
    I paint spaceship parts.

What about the nitride carriers from noveske? For reference it does use a 9310 bolt instead of the carpenter 158 that mil spec requires. Cost is $195. I have no experience with it.

Blacklist industries also offers an interesting(non traditional bcg) with a black nitride coating for $199 again, I have no experience with it.
