    7.62x39 mm gelatin test: Barnaul 125gr JSP






    7.62x39mm Barnaul 125 gr jacketed soft point fired from 16" barreled WASR-10/63 into calibrated 10% gelatin.

    BB calibration: 588.7 fps, 3.6"

    Impact velocity: 2,523 fps
    Penetration: 13.6"
    Retained weight: 111.0 gr
    Max expansion: 0.793"
    Min expansion: 0.603"

    glad to see its fairly effective ammo, too bad my only 762 doesnt care for the SP's too much. the nose hangs up on feeding sometimes.

    Fusion is the best performing round I've tested so far in 7.62x39mm. it is a soft point, but the nose is narrow and there is little exposed lead. That might work for you. If not, SST (Zombiemax) is a close second, but probably not as barrier blind.

    that is exactly where in went with SD 762 ammo, found some hornady SST ammo. cycles perfect.

    wow
    looks like a good sd round,2523 fps from a 16" thats moving for 125 grain ammo.

    My pleasure. Thanks for watching. Please note that I often get velocities that are a bit higher than what other people see because I test in AZ. Higher temperatures often result in higher velocity. I even thought my chronograph could be out of calibration so I tested it by shooting through mine and my friend's at the same time. It turned out that my chrono was actually reading about 30-40 fps slower than his.
