Has anyone who thinks Colt or HK hate us ever actually dealt with those companies? I have found HK very pleasant and never personally dealt directly with Colt but never had quarrel with the excellent firearms I have been issued or purchased made by them. Repeating dogma from the interwebs or having beef because of personal preferences is ridiculous. Just because Honda doesn't make a car I want doesn't mean Honda has malicious intent towards me.

The talk about Colt's lack of inovation is laughable at best. You guys clearly never heard of the era known in this post as the "pre-Vietnam conflict through pre-GWOT." During that period of time the only companies (still active) inovating anything related to the AR-15 family of weapons were Colt and KAC. B+ to ZM Weapons and M2 Corp. The sillines from Oly, Bushmaster and DPMS doesn't come close but they get a C- for effort. All these companies like BCM, DD, Noveske, etc. are riding the coat tails of the guys who actually put in decades of work. I like those compaines and others like them, even own their products, but they are just capitalists who jumped on the post-GWOT money train band wagon; God bless them for it. If you don't believe me do a google search for Mr. Knight's Colt collection. You'll see more inovation than you can shake a stick at, from a time when it wasn't fashionable.

In honor of this I have just made up my mind to get rid of and stop shooting almost all ARs that don't say Colt or KAC. I will keep supporting the guys that put in work without fancy software to get us to the point we are at now. We sure wouldn't be close to here without them.

Amen but feel free to toss out the BCM in my direction. Both companies have been excellent to work with regarding CS in my experience, and the quality of each speaks for itself. People love to hate on Colt and ever since that Recoil Mag/HK flub it's been all the rage to hate on HK too. It is as you say silliness. Toyota won't sell the Hilux in the US. They must hate us too.

    Quality makes it a Colch

No one is questioning what they once did, but The fact that we are in the Golden age of ARs, and what have they done in terms of innovation since the Clinton AWB expired? When the AR boom happened, when the market that we have today was born where were they when everyone else found new and innovative ideas. They relied on military contracts and chose to ignore the needs of the civilian market for the most part.

When they needed to be competitive in the market, they weren't in terms of innovation. That's the issue that people have today, and after all the Financial trouble colt has been in that's the issue they have as well.

Does that mean any of us for a second think the colt makes a subpar product, absolutely not they still make one of the best base products. Colt Products sell they always will, but they should have a monopoly on the market given the Headstart that they had to begin with.

Colt is almost dead last in 1911 sales. It was EASY for companies like Kimber and Springfield to take their customers away.

    Cheers, Stainless.

I bet during this boon, Colt was busy filling contracts, as spec'd by the customer to build guns to kill enemies. They were less concerned with whatever hashbrowns people denote their newset cool toy on instagram with. Just a guess.

Lots of these new companies make cool stuff and really great stuff. But saying that Colt hasn't inovated much is bonkers. The 901 might not have been superbly executed, buy only the MWS is cooler and it's full of KAC parts.

Bringing up the bankruptcy is like how Barry brought up gun control last night, erroneous. Colt got screwed by powers above not within. Read more than just the headlines. The words under the headlines fill in a lot of info gaps.

Colt defense sure was in charge of those military contracts.

So what's your defense against Colt manufacturing?

Two companies, two roles at the time.

Legacy is only worth so much.

Is it worth having a 16" barrel, carbine gas, without a free float rail?

    Not to me.

When your highest selling product is stuck in the early 2000's, it should come as no surprise that you get passed up.

Commercial had to buy guns from Colt Defense. This made things super strange and difficult to get guns to the consumer. This is all done now and everyone is on the same sheet of music now.

I think we people would be SHOCKED to learn how many Colt AR's are sold (with their lack of "innovation"). We sell WAY more Colt rifles than BCM (for instance).
