Probably true. There is no one-size-fits-all shooting method. I shot a lot more when I lived in Montana. Since being stationed in California, and having to deal with magazine limits and bullet buttons, my shooting has changed dramatically.

Not everyone practices for a sustained gunfight or a high round count competition.

KAC found a nice compromise on barrel profile for Suppressor use. I bet a AAC mini4 or KAC QDC CQB can would be even better on a LW profiled barrel.

If I go with the 20" upper do I have to use the A2 stock and buffer?

No, you can use a carbine stock or any other.

No, but it will look kind of odd with a retractable stock and a 20" barrel. Of course build whatever makes you happy. If you change your mind, you can always reconfigure.

No, you are fine to use a collapsable. You can use either a standard carbine buffer tube with a heavier buffer, or use the VLTOR A5 kit. The latter was designed particularly for a rifle gas system and uses the standard rifle buffer spring.

Here is my 20" with the A5 kit:

Man, that actually looks awesome. Thanks for sharing. Is it a soft shooter?

Since it sounds like you already have a "go to" rifle, then why not go with what you don't have? If you don't have a dedicated "go to" as you implied, then you need one ... and a 16" is perfect for that.

All I can say is I only have two ARs and both are lightweight (Colt and DD). I started my AR "journey" about 12 years ago with a 6721 with heavy barrel but quickly determined it was a waste (although it was nice on my old M16 lower).
If you aren't armed when you take a dump in your own home then your opinion on what is a practical daily carry weapon isn't interesting to me.

Extremely soft. It is actually my favorite one to shoot.

While mine is a BCM 20" government, I've always been interested in Criterion's 20" pencil profile (available through Fulton).
