You might also check out Faxon Firearms' 20" Gunner profile barrel. It has a 5.56 chamber instead of a "hybrid match" chamber, like the Criterion.
"This motto may adorn their tombs
(Let tyrants come and view):
We rather seek these silent rooms
Than live as slaves to you."
Lemuel Haynes, 1775
We are using the FAXON Pencil barrels in our rifles and I have been extremely happy with them. We have a few 3-Gun folks running just the standard BLR-16 with the pencil and have reported no problems hitting targets out to 300+ after warming the gun up in the start of the stage.
I like the pencil barrels for the longer guns.

If you are not going the complete upper route, and wish to assemble in parts, the Faxon 20" gunner is very interesting.
Now I feel like I'm just throwing up more pictures, but I thought this might be useful for the discussion. The first rifle is my BCM LW 16" KISS carbine, the second is the 20" rifle. I put up two pictures, one with the previous configuration and one with the most current configuration, my own approximation of a SAM-R, that looks larger due to the bulkiness of the bipod and scope.
Sometimes I think it's easy to lose a sense of scale when looking at a rifle by itself against a background. As you can see here, the 20" is larger than a 16", but certainly not by much. I also included a picture of me holding the 20". I'm 6'2" and about 220 lbs, for scale.

We've used our 16" DD lightweight barreled factory upper (with the older .625 gas block) with a Leupold Mk6 1-6x to get decent hit ratios on full-sized torso steel targets out to 907 yards with our Hornady 75gr BTHP handloads. The density altitude is usually 2k+ ft. though, so that helps a bit, especially since the velocity is on the slower side (2603 fps off a Magnetospeed V3). IIRC, that AR-15 weighs about 9 pounds with a 30rd D&H loaded with 77's, which I think is pretty good considering the scope weighs 17oz by itself. Our HD load for the gun is Atlanta Arms & Ammo 77's and that groups a little over a minute in the gun and our handloads shoot tighter than that. It's really hard to find a downside with that AR-15, considering the weight and how well it shoots. We've been really happy with it.
Okay, for starters yeah, it's a crappy cell phone pic. Mathew Brady I'm not! Forgive me M4C........
**Got a new 20" A1 profile, chrome lined, 1:7 twist barrel from McKay Enterprises with M4 feedramp cuts (IDF overrun contract? Marked C MP B). Sent it to Adco to have the FSB drilled and installed.
**PRI rifle-length carbon fiber free-float tube. PRI is VERY proud of their stuff and the price reflects that! Carbon fiber should keep heat transfer to a minimum but this particular one isn't exactly light; I believe it weighs almost a pound so good thing the barrel is an A1 profile.
**A5 buffer system
**Geissele SD-C trigger with straight bow (LOVE the feel of that straight trigger!).
**BCM BCG and I had the bolt hard chromed by Metaloy.
**Matech BUIS
**Magpul ACS-L stock
**MOE grip
**Aimpoint Pro
**Topped off with an old-timey 3-prong flash hider.
Weighs a little over 7 lbs unloaded.
