    Model 604 build has started

A couple months ago, I started on a long awaited Model 604 build. After gathering most all of the original parts I need and receiving the Colt 604 upper and a Colt C MP C barrel in the mail the other day, I managed to get the upper assembled yesterday. Today, I made a range trip and it went really well. Since I will not get the slickside bolt carrier and charging handle for another week or so, I used the early '70s Colt BCG I got for the build. I put the upper on my XM16E1 lower and used the charging handle from the XM16E1 as well for the range test. It ran flawlessly. I only put twenty rounds through it. The only adjustments I had to make for zero (@ 50 yds.) was a few clicks to the left. Elevation was GTG. Here are a few pics of the 604 upper temporarily sitting on the XM16E1 lower. When the lower assembly for the 604 gets built, it will look exactly like this. I will not get the lower (NDS-XM16E1) from Nodak Spud for a few months yet.

I have decided that when I hit #40 that I will hold off on any more ARs for a while. I take that back since I have #40 and #41 in the works as well.
